The 2018 Southwestern Regional Conference is currently underway, and attendees are stoked about the educational tools and community they've received thus far. But don't take our word for it: Jessica Ramirez, Austin Chapter Member who joined the USBG to "better her career" and network at events-- her favorite to date has been Franklin's BBQ--shares her SWRC #1 Takeaway:
"This is my first Regional Conference to attend... It is a great opportunity to further educate yourself in this, forever-changing industry and I am confident that the knowledge shared here will serve as an olive branch into my own chapter."
This year's SWRC educational seminars covered topics such as: The Giving Spirit, Come At Me, Pro, No Italy-No Cocktail and Liquid Legacy. Attendees were also schooled on Overcoming the Dark Side of the Bar, Rum Classification, Hops School, The Sour Hour, and Draft Cocktails.
An especially unique seminar, Honey Immersion, presented by Southwest Regional Vice President, Kim Haasarud schooled conference-goers on this all-natural sweetener, including: how it's made, how best to use in a cocktail, and how to best pair with spirits. This seminar was a sweet hands-on workshop that highlighted over 200 varietals of honey, ranging in flavor from marshmallows to orange peel to vanilla, and included a tasting component.
Finally, USBG members and staff bravely took to the stage to tell stories of a past life and lessons learned during the Storytelling Dinner, sponsored by Diageo.
AND! None of this could be possible without our generous sponsors!
Their dedication to adjacent education helps make these events a huge success. We appreciate you immensely!
A virtual toast!
And... Congratulations to this region's World Class Finalists--stay tuned for the announcement!
See everyone next week at the Midwest Regional Conference in Cleveland.
