Member Spotlight - Chris Barrett

Chris Barrett, Oklahoma City, 12 years in the industry

Where did you grow-up, and what was it like there?

I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma. It was very suburban-y.

Where do you work and what do you do there?

The Bar @ Ludivine. I'm the bar manager.

What is the most rewarding part of your career?

When I make a drink for someone and they like it.

What is your favorite bartending moment?

I was stirring a drink in front of a lady customer wearing a low-cut blouse when a piece of ice popped out of the mixing glass and flew right down her cleavage. I couldn't make that shot again if I tried.

What do you do to relax outside of work?

I go to someone else's bar.

Favorite quote:

"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day" - Dean Martin

Advice you could offer to others:

Know your history, study the classics, taste everything, always be learning. And, be nice. It helps.

Who do you look up to and why?

Damon Boelte. Cause he's like a foot taller than me.

Tell us something unusual or unique about yourself that we might not know.

Chicks dig me because I rarely wear underwear and when I do it's usually something unusual.

What does the future hold for you?

Damn, if I knew that...
