SideBar -- It's Gettin' Personal With Erin Baynes

Chicago, 9 years in the industry

What is your current state of mind?

Motivated

What is your favorite word?

Relentless

What is your *least* favorite word?

Impossible

What turns you on?

Tattoos; short hair on women, long hair on men.

What turns you off?

Republicanism ;)

What sound or noise do you love?

Acoustic covers, Johnny Cash, thunderstorms.

What sound or noise do you loathe?

Drunk girl "WOOOOOOO"s and any car sans muffler but with an actually-blown-but-still-blaring stereo system.

What profession would you like to attempt?

It's a tie between President and Miss America (too young for the former, too old for the latter!)

What profession would you *not* like to do?

Anything involving blood (unless it's a horror movie)!

If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?

Like my grandfather says to me: "You done good, kid."

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

If it had to be in one spot: a to-go cup of slushy daquiri with good company on a balcony in NOLA (or any balcony anywhere); otherwise, it's a nomadic life lived out of a backpack and working remotely across the globe.

What are you most afraid of?

Getting too far in to get out.

Which trait in yourself do you most deplore?

Working until burnout and a belief in that perfection is attainable.

Which trait in yourself do you most admire?

(see above)

Which living person do you most admire?

Dominic Hoel, Operations Manager of Rockit Bar & Grill

What do you consider to be the most over-rated virtue?

Patience - if you want it, go get it!

What is your most luxurious extravagance?

Travel! The second I'm home, I want to book the next adventure.

On what occasion do you lie?

When selling a killer and high-priced steak/burger/mac & cheese thing to a guest based on "my preferences" (I'm vegan).

How might your nearest and dearest describe you?

Passionate, eccentric, ambitious, vibrant, brave

What do you dislike most about your appearance?

I have a rogue eyebrow! After a few heat strokes as a kid, my left eyebrow always raises higher and emotes stronger than my right, absolute pain when taking any kind of selfie, ya know?

What do you love most about your appearance?

I'm tall and I owe Crest Whitestrips a whole lot.

Which living person do you most despise?

Anyone who didn't vote Bernie Sanders/who did vote Donald Trump in the primaries.

Which words or phrases do you most over-use?

Ridiculous, buttercup/sunshine/lovebug, "Tito's/soda/lime"

What (or who) is the greatest love of your life?

A fellow bartender and industry veteran.

When and where are you/were you the happiest?

Performing on any stage anywhere - that includes at work!

Where would you most like to live?

Nowhere and everywhere; domestically, however, New Orleans, Seattle, and Denver are my top picks.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

From experience...working a job I hate, as simple as it seems.

Who are your favorite writers?

Charles Bukowski, BJ Colangelo, Sylvia Plath, Jodi Picoult, Steve Dublanica

Who is your hero of fiction?

Arnold Schwarzenegger as anything (other than the governor of California).

What is your greatest regret?

Not applying to Harvard.

How would you like to die?

To the tune of Rick Ross' "Hustlin'"

What is your motto?

"Faith over fear" & "Defy definition"

What do you most value in your friends?

Hilarity, compassion, ferocity, bluntness, love

What is your most treasured possession?

This sounds stupidly superficial: my car. Sparky has seen me through graduations, bad relationships, accidents, karaoke sessions, state-long drives for pageant prep/competition, month-long cross-country roadtrips, driving friends, driving Uber, & driving Miss Daisy (just kidding!). This little golf cart of a car has taken a beating in this city, yet still puts up with me every day!

If your were forced to live the rest of your life without your body (physical), mind (intelligence), or heart (emotion & intuition), which would you choose to lose?

By default - body (physical)
